With the aim of minimizing damage from leaks and improving the water supply, the company Aguas de La Habana plans to change sections of conductors and maintain hydraulic networks.

At a press conference, Marioly Guillart Ferrer, deputy deputy director of Aqueduct Maintenance of said entity,

said that the change to 32 sections of conductors with an extension of five kilometers is forecast.

The specialist added that the work is carried out in places where there are repetitive leaks and, given the impossibility of making large investments in these works, it is decided to gradually change the sections to improve the service.

He explained that to date eight sections have been renewed and specified that work is being done on another six to optimize the functions in the four systems of the capital (East, West, Center and South).

The directive reported that, in recent days,

work has been done on the Marino-Palatino conductor, in the Cerro municipality

, which had consecutive breaks and 68 meters have already been changed to prevent leaks and increase water pressure.

He explained that work is being done in the same way on the maintenance of the West conductor, in the municipalities of Playa, Marianao and La Lisa, and on the South conductor, whose connection will benefit the municipality of Guanabacoa.

Guillart Ferrer said that the Aqueducts management has 887 shares in vulnerable neighborhoods and highlighted the completion of 464 of these tasks to date, with a 53 percent compliance in the first three months of 2023.

He highlighted the existence of 49 aqueduct maintenance brigades, which work to solve the problems of leaks and breaks in conductors and networks, with an average of 136 actions per day.
