[Reporter Lin Xinhan/Taipei Report] The Ministry of the Interior held the "Sewer ESG Climate Action" seminar and the "111 Annual Sewage Sewer Construction Design Evaluation Evaluation" award ceremony today. Wu Tangan, Deputy Minister of the Interior, presented awards to commend outstanding counties and cities. Efforts made in the sustainable development of domestic sewer construction are also expected to gather forces from industry, government, academia, and NGO groups to promote sustainable sewer work through public and private collaboration.

Wu Tangan said that the central government and the local government have worked together to promote the construction of sewers for more than 30 years. As of the end of January this year, the cumulative number of households in the country has reached 3.74 million, and a total of 81 sewage treatment plants and 3 reclaimed water plants have been built. The amount of sewage treated is 332 tons and 8.6 tons of reclaimed water are produced for industrial use. The implementation rate of rainwater sewers is 79%, and the total length of paving is 5,629 kilometers, which is equivalent to the length of 13 national highways No. 3.

In this sewage and sewer construction design evaluation, Taipei City and Kaohsiung City won the Excellent Award; Yilan County and Chiayi City won the Outstanding Award; Taoyuan City, Lianjiang County, and Nantou County won the Special Award.

Among them, Yilan County is quite complete in surveying sewage and researching and analyzing countermeasures, especially in the regular evaluation of projects, the removal of septic tanks, and the absence of accumulated sludge in the sludge discharge plant area; while Taoyuan City has innovated research on "releasing runoff water for agriculture" Feasibility of reuse in irrigation”, and in order to allow the public to have a close understanding of the operation of recycling water resources, it is the first to operate the “Black Water Cafe” in the “Wenqing Water Park Water Resource Recycling Center”, which is innovative and friendly to the people.

Wu Tangan pointed out that climate change is a severe challenge faced by the whole world. In order to accelerate carbon reduction and strengthen adaptation to climate change, my country has announced the "Taiwan 2050 Net Zero Emissions Path Blueprint" and the "Climate Change Response Act". The Ministry of the Interior has also actively responded to the policy , to cooperate with the promotion of "Sewage Sewer Phase Six Construction Design", "Public Sewage Treatment Plant Reclaimed Water Promotion Plan" and "Urban Consolidation Water Control Construction Design", and integrate ESG concepts to enhance urban resilience under climate change in my country. Promote the sustainable development of the sewer industry.
