The Taipei City MRT Bureau pointed out that the East Ring Section was officially approved by the Executive Yuan today. The East Ring Section will be connected with 4 MRT lines, which will not only relieve the traffic bottleneck of the internal medical department, but also share about 15% of the maximum inter-station traffic volume of the Wenhu Line. After opening to traffic, the time from Xiangshan Station to Neihu Science Park will be shortened from 32 minutes to 14 minutes, and from Shilin Station to Internal Medicine will be shortened from 39 minutes to 12 minutes, shortening the overall commuting time in the Taipei metropolitan area.

The MRT Bureau pointed out that after the completion of the East Ring Section, the North-South Ring Section and the first phase of the Ring Line under construction, there will be a total of 14 stations that can directly intersect and transfer with the MRT, light rail, Taiwan Railway, and high-speed rail, connecting 16 radiation lines in series. The east ring section must pass under the Taiwan High Speed ​​Rail tunnel and also under the existing MRT station, which is quite difficult. Efforts should be made to shorten the administrative review process and allow the project to start within 2 years.
