[Reporter Luo Xinzhen/Pingtung Report] Inmate Tu Junwei of the Pingtung Detention Center escaped while working at the Co-effort Farm the day before yesterday (27th). Police were deployed on the four important bridges at the junction of Gaoping, and Tu Nan was finally arrested about 51 hours after the incident.

Cai Wenfeng, director of the Pingtung County Government Police Bureau, stated tonight (29th) that the police accepted a report on March 27th and learned that the prisoner surnamed Tu, who was an outsider in the Pingtung Detention Center, had quarreled with other employees and assaulted him when he was working in Xieli Farm. Later, after snatching the victim's car keys and driving away, the Pingtung County Police Department notified the Police Department of the Ministry of the Interior on the same day to issue a special issue on major (emergency) investigations, and the Taiwan Pingtung District Prosecutor's Office simultaneously issued a wanted warrant.

The Pingtung County Police Department formed a task force with the 8th Investigative Brigade of the Criminal Police Bureau and the Kaohsiung City Government Police Department, and reported it to the command of the prosecutor of the Pingtung District Prosecutor's Office.

The police said that the special case team mobilized 500 police officers to review the video analysis of the surveillance cameras, searched the Gaoping area in a blanket manner, and even deployed police forces on the four important bridges at the junction of Gaoping. After the victim's vehicle, in order to confuse the police, he fled back and forth between Pingtung and Kaohsiung. During the period, he stole other vehicles and license plates in an attempt to cover up. He even had a self-collision accident on the way to escape. Two days after his escape, he was seized at the locomotive consignment in front of Pingtung Station at 6:10 tonight.

The Pingtung County Police Department stated that Pingtung County Mayor Zhou Chunmi, Police Commissioner Huang Mingzhao, the Ministry of Justice, and the Pingtung District Prosecutor's Office all requested the police to arrest the suspect as soon as possible to avoid public panic. Chief Prosecutor Chen was responsible for the division of tasks among the various units of the police station, and invested the maximum force of the police force in 48 hours without sleep.
