In Rajasthan, the movement of private doctors has also got the support of government doctors.

Jaipur:

Government doctors and faculty members of medical colleges on Wednesday announced a one-day collective holiday in support of private doctors protesting against the Right to Health (RTH) Bill.

Due to this, medical services in the state are expected to be badly affected.

However, emergency services have been kept separate from this movement.

Private doctors are demanding withdrawal of the bill passed in the assembly last Tuesday.

The health department is alert

, while the state health department has instructed the principals of medical colleges that medical services in OPD, IPD, ICU, emergency and delivery wards should not be affected.

The government has told them that disciplinary action will be taken against them considering their absence from duty as voluntary absence, without sanctioning leave to the doctors.

Similarly, all the heads of departments have been directed to initiate action to cancel the registration of resident doctors for negligence of any kind of duty, damage to state property, misbehavior with patients and their relatives.

Emergency services not affected

All Rajasthan In-Service Doctors Association on Tuesday announced a one-day strike on Wednesday in support of the agitating doctors.

Association General Secretary Dr. Shankar Bamnia said that more than 15,000 working (government) doctors will boycott work by staying on a one-day collective holiday in support of the movement of private doctors against the RTH Bill.

Along with these, the resident doctors of the Medical College will also boycott the work.

He said, 'All doctors will be on mass leave in support of the movement.'

He said that emergency services will not be affected by this.

Seeking cooperation from medical colleges

After the call for bandh by government doctors, the Medical and Health Department has issued instructions that the principals of medical colleges should mark the presence of medical teachers, doctors, residents, paramedical and nursing staff on a daily basis in the prescribed form in the morning. Will send it to the department by 09:30.

Issuing the order, Joint Secretary of the department, Iqbal Khan said that leave of all medical teachers, doctors, resident, paramedical and nursing staff can be approved by the Principal/Superintendent only under special circumstances and its information should also be made available to the department without delay.

Government should speak directly

Private doctors say that the RTH Bill will increase the interference of bureaucracy in the functioning of private hospitals.

According to the bill, every resident of the state shall have the right to emergency treatment and care in any 'public health institution, health care establishment and designated health care centres' 'without prepayment'.

Secretary of Private Hospital and Nursing Home Society, Dr. Vijay Kapoor told that the movement of private doctors continued on the 11th day today.

He said that the Chief Minister has not yet called the doctors for talks.

Dr. Kapoor said that instead of spending lakhs of rupees on advertisements, the government should talk directly to the agitating doctors.

Chief

Secretary Usha Sharma and other senior officials of the state government held a meeting with a delegation of agitating private hospitals on Sunday and assured them to discuss their suggestions regarding the bill.

However, private doctors are adamant on the demand to withdraw this bill and said that any discussion is possible only after withdrawing the bill.

The Bill was passed as per the recommendations of the Select Committee.

Doctors say that their one-point demand is to withdraw the bill and only after the demand is fulfilled by the government, there will be any discussion on its points.

Health Minister Parsadi Lal has already clarified that the bill will not be withdrawn as all the suggestions given by the doctors have already been included in the bill and hence this demand is unreasonable.
