Complaints made by citizens and organizations to the national ombudsman have increased for the second year in a row.

This was announced by the deputy ombudsman Elena Cherneva - Markova:

"For 2022, there were more than 15,000 written complaints, and a total of more than 74,000 citizens received assistance, advice and support from the National Public Defender. Of these, more than 11,000 were persons deprived of liberty, detained or placed in institutions," he said Markova at the presentation of Amnesty International's annual report on the state of human rights around the world.
