The Supreme Court on Tuesday refused to stay the summons issued by the Enforcement Directorate to Leader of Opposition in Madhya Pradesh Legislative Assembly Govind Singh in a money laundering case lodged against him.

A bench of Justice Sanjay Kishan Kaul, Justice Ahsanuddin Amanullah and Justice Arvind Kumar issued notice on Singh's plea challenging the summons issued by the Enforcement Directorate (ED) and posted the matter for six weeks.

Senior advocate Kapil Sibal and advocate Sumir Sodhi, appearing for Singh, said that the summons issued against him on January 13 under the PMLA Act should be stayed by the court.

The bench said it will issue notice on Singh's plea and interim relief of stay on the summons, but it will not stay the ED's summons.

The bench said, "This matter requires a detailed hearing, and therefore we are keeping the time after six weeks." 'Rewinder' should also be given.
