[Reporter Zhou Minhong/Taoyuan Report] Taoyuan Mayor Zhang Shanzheng went to Taoyuan Martyrs Shrine yesterday to attend the Taoyuan City Spring Festival to commemorate the revolutionary martyrs and Wadan Amuyi's enshrinement ceremony. Loyal heroic spirit.

He said that while remembering the martyrs, he should also encourage himself to continue to work hard for the country and let the world pay attention to Taiwan's development, so that he will not be ashamed of his dedication to the martyrs.

Watan Amuy, or Watan Syat, the leader of the Great Leopard Club who was enshrined in the Martyrs' Shrine yesterday, once led the Great Leopard from 1900 to 1907 Qun and other Atayal tribes resisted the invading Japanese army. Later, due to the shortage of food and ammunition, they led the tribe to retreat from the territory of Dabaoxi in the Three Gorges to Xiayun and Xuewunao in the Tianshan Mountains in the south (that is, Xiayunli and Gaoyili in Fuxing District today). He took refuge in other places, negotiated peace with the Japanese police alone, and handed over his son to the Governor's Mansion as a hostage, hoping to allow the tribe to return to the territory of Dabaoxi.

Zhang Shanzheng said that the Japanese army "changed their colors" when they heard about Wadan Amui, because the Japanese army spent many years but failed to conquer the people led by Wadan Amui. Wadan Amuyi was heroic and benevolent, and future generations must never forget the contribution of the Atayal people to this land.

Taoyuan City Martyrs' Shrine enshrines 290 martyrs, including the Martyrs of the March 29 Huanghuagang Uprising, Anti-Japanese War, and Suppression of Bandits, as well as military, police, and firefighters who died in the line of duty.

Zhang Shanzheng said that March 29 was designated as Youth Day to commemorate the contributions of martyrs and set an example for modern youth.

In addition, the "Spring Sacrifice Ceremony of Soldiers' Zhongling Shrine in Taoyuan City" was held yesterday at the Bade Life Memorial Hall. Zhang Shanzheng also attended as the chief priest and presented flowers in memory of the ancestors, and also paid the highest respect to the bereaved.
