SpaceX, Tesla and Twitter CEO Elon Musk, Apple co-founder Steve Wozniak and 1,100 other professors, engineers and researchers are calling for a halt to artificial intelligence experiments.

They fear that it may threaten humanity.

The corresponding appeal is published on the website of the non-profit organization Future of Life Institute.

The authors of this recall believe that training and testing of more powerful artificial intelligence systems than OpenAI's GPT-4 should be suspended for at least half a year - until common security protocols emerge.

If they do not agree voluntarily, the state must intervene in the situation by introducing a moratorium.

The signatories stress that AI labs have spiraled out of control in recent months to develop and deploy increasingly powerful digital minds "that no one, not even their creators, can understand, predict or reliably control," and the latest AI systems are beginning to compete with a person

In their opinion, products with artificial intelligence "can pose a serious threat to society and humanity."

“We should ask ourselves: should we allow machines to fill our news channels with propaganda and lies?

Should we automate all work, including the work we enjoy?

Should we develop non-human minds that can eventually outnumber, outsmart and replace us?

Should we risk losing control of our civilization?”

- says the letter.

According to Reuters, OpenAI CEO Sam Altman did not sign the letter.

It will be recalled that the chief executive officer of the Meta company, Mark Zuckerberg, announced a loud novelty - LLaMA artificial intelligence.

He is convinced that his development will become a competitor to the famous chatbot ChatGPT.
