The Deputy Secretary General of the Ministry of Finance and Planning, Lawrence Mafuru has said that the Government is conducting strategic discussions with the World Bank on how to enable the private sector to participate in the implementation of various development projects through a partnership program between the Public and Private Sectors ie PPP.

Mafuru explained this in Dodoma after meeting and negotiating with the World Bank delegation led by the Resident Director, Nathan Belete where they discussed the best way to implement the PPP law as well as improving the investment and business environment in the country.

He said that the discussion is the implementation of the emphasis and instructions given by President Samia Suluhu that now is the time for the Private Sector to collaborate with the Government to bring about economic development.

"The government has started the second phase of discussions with the World Bank regarding the support that is directed to the infrastructure sectors and sectors that will improve the environment for doing business in the country."

In addition, he noted that the Law on Partnership between the Public and Private Sector (PPP) is being amended so that it can be competitive, which will be able to attract the capital of the Private Sector and finally enable the sector to cooperate with the Government in implementing projects.
