The United States is committed to the Armenian-Azerbaijani peace talks.

APA reports that Vedant Patel, the deputy spokesman of the US State Department, said this at a briefing.

According to him, the US Secretary of State has repeatedly stated this.

Thus, direct dialogue is essential to resolve this issue and achieve lasting peace.

"We will continue to support discussions between Armenia and Azerbaijan bilaterally, as well as with partners and within the framework of multilateral organizations," Vedant Patel emphasized.

He recalled that US Assistant Secretary of State Karen Donfried had a telephone conversation with Azerbaijan's Foreign Minister Jeyhun Bayramov the other day.
