The National Chiao Tung University pointed out that there were more than 3,000 pedestrian accidents in New Taipei City last year. The New Taipei Police implemented the "Pedestrian Right of Way Enforcement" from February to April this year. According to statistics, so far this year, 6,540 violations have been reported by vehicles and 5,861 violations by pedestrians. The National Chiao Tung University stated that in addition to the police stopping and reporting on the spot and immediately educating and correcting the violators’ perceptions, technological law enforcement equipment is also installed at accident-prone intersections. The National Chiao Tung University emphasized that the Ministry of Communications has completed the revision procedure of the "Uniform Penalty Criteria and Handling Rules for Violations of Road Traffic Management Incidents". Starting from March 31, it will not suspend pedestrian crossings to allow pedestrians to pass first, and vehicles at unsigned intersections will not comply. It is stipulated that the penalty for items such as stopping and yielding will be increased, especially the part where the car does not stop yielding to pedestrians will be fined 3,600 yuan.
