The world does not need "democracy summits".

APA reports that Mao Ning, press secretary of the Chinese Ministry of Foreign Affairs, said this while answering journalists' questions at a briefing held today.

According to him, official Beijing believes that such measures create discord and conflict:

"The modern world does not need summit meetings that are supposed to ensure democracy, but actually sow seeds of discord and conflict."

The MFA official added that what the world needs at the present time is not to interfere in the affairs of other countries under the pretext of protecting democracy, but to implement real democracy and work together to develop democracy in international relations.
