Twenty days before Easter, farmers have already started accepting caparo, with which we can keep a lamb for the holiday.

Free classifieds platforms on the Internet are already full of offers from owners who look after live animals.

They offer lambs at a price of BGN 10-12 live weight, "Telegraf" writes.

Buyers should go to the location and choose an animal they like.

Some farmers advise to save a lamb and give a deposit so that we are not left empty-handed at the end of the holiday.

“When you decide, come and keep a lamb.

Just call ahead.

If you come on Easter itself, I don't know if it will be available by then, because they are already ordering a lot," explained a farmer from Northern Bulgaria.

The buyer must go to a place to select a live lamb.

The chosen animal is marked by the owner, and the client counts 10-20 BGN caparo by hand.

"Some give 50-100 BGN to be sure that the animal will be preserved for them," explained the farmer.

Then, when Easter approaches, customers have to go back to the farm to pay and collect the slaughtered lamb.

The farmer has people who slaughter the animal for an additional 20-30 BGN.

Butchers skin the animal and remove the entrails, with the offal given to the customer in a separate bag.

If desired, the customer can also take the leather.

Lamb from a farm can be taken without caparo.

In these cases, customers should call and arrange the date when they will come to the farm.

On the appointed day, they choose an animal and wait half an hour for it to be slaughtered and skinned.

Then they put the lamb in the trunk and leave to celebrate Easter.

Lambs that are sold this way are usually around 20-30 kilos.

However, after skinning and gutting, the meat is half the live weight.

Thus, if we buy a lamb with a live weight of 30 kg, we will have only 15 kilos of crumb.

The slaughtered lamb is given to the customer in a large envelope or carton.

Whole lambs are ordered from farms, usually by large companies that celebrate Easter at a cottage.

An animal weighing about 30 kg is needed for a company of eight to ten people, the farmers explain.

The purchase of such a lamb will cost us 300-360 BGN, and we have to pay an additional 20-30 BGN for the slaughter.

How much will the Easter meal cost us this year?

He is an engineer-agronomist by education.

In 2001, increased checks on the safety and quality of lamb meat and eggs imported from third countries began.

This decision is in connection with signals received from breeders about doubts about the quality and excessive imports of lamb meat and eggs from third countries.
