In the UK, a woman shortened her life after a surgical mesh fitted after giving birth caused her to experience urinary incontinence, which left her in excruciating pain for several years.

34-year-old Sarah Baines took her own life last September.

An inquest heard this week that Sarah suffered from chronic pain due to complications from surgical mesh implanted in her after giving birth in 2011.

Her mother, 57-year-old Alison Sharrock, is now raising only daughter Sarah, 11, and says the health care system has repeatedly failed her daughter.

During childbirth, the woman had heavy bleeding and suffered a second-degree rupture.

Sarah had to undergo two operations to repair the rupture, neither of which was successful, and at the age of 24 she was faced with urinary incontinence.

"Sarah was really struggling. She was upset and wouldn't leave the house if she needed to go to the bathroom. She wouldn't communicate, she wouldn't even go to the shops," Alison shared.

In 2015, Sarah was advised to have surgical mesh fitted to ease her incontinence.

However, the pain became so severe that a 28-year-old woman was offered a hysterectomy - an operation to remove the uterus.

However, after that she became even worse.

She suffered from infections, skin rashes, gum disease and inexplicable pain.

Not being able to eat and sleep, she fell into depression.

She was hospitalized several times.

Despite the fact that doctors tried various medicines, nothing helped.

"We couldn't understand why her health was deteriorating. Then Sarah started researching the net. She found a support group and found that thousands of women were also in agony," said the mother of the deceased.

Sarah begged doctors to remove the mesh and was promised a first consultation in November 2022.

But in September, the police discovered Sarah's body.

She took a large dose of medicine and hanged herself.

It will be recalled that a 21-year-old student was diagnosed with a terrible disease after she

noticed tiny spots on her skin

.

In just a few hours, the spots increased in size.
