The national team of Azerbaijan, which represented our country in the world championship among women's boxers in New Delhi, the capital of India, has returned home.

According to the information provided by the Federation to apasport.az website, the delegation was welcomed at the Heydar Aliyev International Airport by the staff of the Boxing Federation, employees of the Ministry of Youth and Sports, representatives of the sports community, boxers and family members of athletes.

National coach Yadigar Mammadov called the bronze medal won at the World Cup after 9 years a success for the team.

He said that he believes that his team will perform better in the next competitions: "We went to the World Cup with 6 athletes.

Among them, Zeynab Rahimova (54 kg) won 2, Mahsati Hamzayeva (57 kg) won 1.

Aynur Rzayeva, ranked 3rd in the world, finished the world championship with a bronze medal.

The fact that his weight was less compared to his opponent played a role in his failure to reach the finals.

But we will change Aynur's weight class for the upcoming competitions.

Because the Olympic weight is 75 kg, we will design a new program for Rzayeva so that she can comfortably work at this weight."

Aynur Rzayeva (+81 kg), who went down in the history of Azerbaijan as the first local boxer to win a medal at the world championship, emphasized that her next goal is to qualify for the Paris-2024 Summer Olympic Games at the European Games: "We prepared very seriously for the competition and went to India to get a medal.

I was ready for it both physically and psychologically.

Most importantly, I believed in myself.

My fights were also good.

I faced a ranked opponent in the semi-finals.

However, in my opinion, the victory should not have been given to the opponent.

My goal is to prepare well for the European Games and win a license for the Olympics."
