What is known about Cyclone Freddy
Freddie made landfall in southern Africa for the second time in March, becoming the longest and strongest tropical storm in the Southern Hemisphere.
The death toll from the tropical cyclone in Malawi has exceeded 400 people.
The total number of injured has reached 918, 282 more people are considered missing.
Search and rescue operations are ongoing in the cyclone-hit regions, so the death toll may rise.
The greatest destruction was recorded around the city of Blantyre, the most important economic center of the country.
Downpours and floods damaged roads and bridges, which made rescue operations and the evacuation of victims difficult.
