Serious transport disruptions are expected across most of Germany today after two leading unions called for a one-day strike in the transport sector, DPA reported.

The German public service union Verdi and the

 rail and transport

union  E Fau Ge (EVG) announced last week that they were organizing a joint labor protest.

The German airport association A De Fau (ADV) earlier warned that up to 380,000 passengers "will not be able to take advantage of their flights" because of the strikes.

The Fraport company (Fraport), which manages the airport in Frankfurt, has announced that all regular passenger flights through Germany's busiest airport have been canceled today.

"Fraport" is also the operator of the airports in Varna and Burgas, writes BTA.

The Munich Airport Authority has announced that regular passenger and cargo flights through the airport have been affected by the labor protests.

Passengers traveling through Munich are advised to contact their airlines for more information about their flights.

The Ferdi and E Fau Ge unions announced last week that the strike would close some motorway tunnels in Germany, disrupt regional and long-distance trains and paralyze local public transport in several German provinces and will cause disruptions in sea and river transport in the country.

"Deutsche Bahn" (Deutsche Bahn) announced that due to the labor protests, none of the long-distance trains will travel today.

The movement of regional trains in Germany will be "seriously reduced", added the German railway company.

The company does not expect the situation to normalize on Tuesday (March 28).
