The secretary of the Russian Security Council, Nikolai Patrushev, declared on Monday that the NATO countries are directly involved in the conflict in Ukraine, sending weapons and ammunition, providing intelligence support and training the Ukrainian military.

"They turned Ukraine into a large military camp," denounced Patrushev, and recalled that the West "sends arms and ammunition to the Ukrainian forces, provides them with intelligence," in addition to "NATO instructors and advisers training the Ukrainian military, and mercenaries fighting in neo-Nazi battalions”.

In an interview with Rossíyskaya Gazeta, the senior Russian official stated that the West will not end the conflict until Russia is defeated.

"In trying to prolong this military confrontation for as long as possible, they do not hide their main objective: the defeat of Russia on the battlefield and its subsequent dismemberment," he said.

Patrushev also stressed that the US has become "a champion of the violation of the sovereignty of States, in the number of wars and conflicts unleashed and in the brutal and illegal hunting of citizens of other countries."

According to the senior official, Washington's main objective is to deceive its own population in the midst of the systemic crisis in which it finds itself.

“Your democracy is nothing more than a pretty front for government to hide your contempt for the rights of ordinary Americans,” he added.

He considered that the Summit for Democracy, organized by the US, which will take place from March 28 to 30, "will be another meeting in favor of a world order in which Washington always wants to play a central role" , while those who do not join will be branded as 'undemocratic states'”.

He added that “the fact that US prisons house about a fifth of the world's prisoners, including those serving multiple life sentences, will be kept silent.

"By hypocritically talking about freedom of choice, the US, which has proclaimed itself the world's leading dictator, will in effect limit itself to intimidating countries where their own sovereignty and democracy have been trampled."

Russia "irritates the US and European rulers with its economic independence," Patrushev said, arguing that despite anti-Russian sanctions, Moscow is not going to close its economy to the world.

This "will remain open and integrated with the economies of sovereign countries concerned about their own prosperity."

At the same time, he assured that the opinion of American politicians that Russia will not be able to respond to a pre-emptive nuclear attack by the United States is "shortsighted and very dangerous stupidity."

He recalled that Moscow "possesses advanced and unique weapons capable of destroying any adversary, including the US, in the event of a threat to its existence."

Russian Foreign Ministry points out contradictions in Western policy

The spokeswoman for the Russian Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Maria Zajárova, denounced on Monday that the British authorities are not really concerned about the safety of children, both in Ukraine and in the United Kingdom.

"I wonder how the 'collective heads' of Western liberal dictatorships manage to have two incongruous ideologies at the same time: the alleged concern for Ukrainian children and the maniacal desire to contaminate the region's soil with depleted uranium," he wrote. Zajárova on her Telegram account.

Zajárova recalled a BBC investigation revealing that British officers shot children in Northern Ireland with plastic and rubber bullets during the conflict known in English as The Troubles.

"There is evidence of the death of at least eight minors, some as young as ten years old," she stressed.

According to the spokeswoman, "the authorities knew that the use of such munitions was highly likely to be lethal" and "in 1971, the British land forces received instructions to this effect", but the military "deliberately refused to communicate its contents to the lower units.

The United Kingdom announced last week that it will send munitions containing depleted uranium to kyiv.

The announcement not only provoked a strong reaction from Moscow, but also raises the question of whether this move could entail serious consequences for civilians living in the territories where such weapons are planned to be used.
