Prime Minister of Israel Benjamin Netanyahu

Benjamin Netanyahu was born on October 21, 1949 in Tel Aviv, Israel. He is an Israeli politician and called today on protesters and counter-protesters in the country to refrain from violence, Reuters reported, quoted by BTA.

Netanyahu made the call on Twitter as tensions rose in Israel over his government's plan to reform the judiciary.

Israeli embassies around the world have been instructed to join a strike against judicial reform today, a union letter cited by Reuters showed.

The letter, which referred to a national strike called by the General Federation of Labor in Israel, said the foreign ministry's activities at home and abroad would be limited to emergency services.

Israeli television channel "Channel 12" reported that demonstrators protesting in front of the parliament in Jerusalem entered the building, but the security detained them and led them out.
