Six people died today and three were injured in a serious accident on the highway from Istanbul to Edirne, Turkish television NTV reported, referring to a message from the Welsh of Istanbul, BTA reported.

The accident happened in the afternoon in the area of ​​Silivri municipality, Istanbul district, after the truck driver lost control of the vehicle and entered the oncoming lane.

The truck crashed into two cars.

Fire crews, ambulances, police, AFAD (Directorate for Disaster and Emergency Management) employees were sent to the scene of the accident.

The injured have been admitted to area hospitals.

Due to the accident, traffic on the highway was restricted to one lane only.

The nationalities of the dead and injured are not known.

The Consulate General of Bulgaria in Istanbul told BTA that no information has been received about dead or injured Bulgarian citizens.
