“We go to the traditional Sunday caravans because we love, not because we are paid.

This is not stopped by any wall of hate!” said the participants.

Neither attacks nor insults by anti-Cuban groups prevented hundreds of people from raising their voices in Miami to demand the cessation of hostilities maintained by the United States Government against Cuba.

With banners demanding that the Caribbean island be removed from the list of countries sponsoring terrorism and amid shouts of "Cuba yes, blockade no!", the participants began their peaceful march after singing the Cuban national anthem.

Several videos uploaded to social networks showed the harassment suffered by protesters by groups of "haters", who seek to prevent a policy of rapprochement between the two countries.

"The Miami commission asked the city to provide a paid escort, a procedure that should not happen, because the police must guarantee security for free," the leader of the Bridges of Love movement, Carlos denounced on his Facebook account. Ribbon.

He said that he was evasive and finally offered protection to a counter-caravan that dedicated itself to intimidating the activists.

In addition to the insults, the provocations included the burning of a Cuban flag, in the face of the inaction of law enforcement officers who even underestimated the threat that such an act represents for public security.

Despite the attacks, the caravanists endorsed their willingness to continue supporting the Cuban cause.

“We go to the traditional Sunday caravans because we love, not because we are paid.

This is not stopped by any wall of hate!” they said.

The main political leaders of the Alianza Martiana coalition, Elena Freire and Max Lesnik, considered that it was a successful day, where it was possible to convene and bring together Cubans of good will who seek to raise awareness to reverse the punitive regulations issued against Cuba from the Casa White.

"We had another caravan success, we left with great enthusiasm and once again we demanded an end to these terrible sanctions that weigh on the Cuban people and make them suffer," Freire declared during an interview broadcast on social networks.

For his part, Lesnik stated that this march is being carried out due to "the will of the Cuban emigrants who love their country and who want the United States to change its policy of aggression."

"We want hate to be left behind," he said.

"Love solves problems among decent, intelligent people and true patriots."

Speaking to Prensa Latina, Lazo recalled that this solidarity initiative led by his group takes place on the last Sunday of each month and on this occasion, in addition to Miami, actions were organized in the US cities of Seattle and New York, as well as in Vancouver, Quebec and Ottawa (Canada), and also in Panama.

Puentes de Amor is one of the organizations that integrates the growing wave of rejection inside and outside the United States against the economic, commercial and financial blockade imposed by the United States on the Caribbean nation more than six decades ago.

President Joe Biden promised to reverse the failed Cuba policies of his predecessor, Donald Trump (2017-2021), but two years after his arrival at the White House there are hardly any signs in that direction.

In May of last year, the Democratic Administration released some measures regarding visas, regular migration, travel, remittances, and adjustments to regulations for transactions with the non-state sector that were well received;

however, they did not touch the very essence of the blockade.

The Cuban authorities indicated at the time that this is a limited step in the right direction, but that the announcements did not in any way modify the blockade or the main coercive measures of the 243 adopted by the Trump Administration.

The Government of the United States maintains Cuba on its list of countries that sponsor terrorism and on the list of restricted entities, to cite just two examples.

President Biden, remove Cuba from the spurious list of terrorist countries.

Lift the cruel sanctions that punish and kill the Cuban family.
