The Taipei City Health Bureau announced today that in the first half of this year, it will launch a grading assessment and certification of catering hygiene management for confinement food suppliers to ensure the integrity of the food supply process. Hygiene, safety and quality, providing reference for novice parents.

In the second half of this year, business districts will be included in the certification. It is expected that Yongkang and Xinbeitou business districts will be given priority on the road, and the city’s business district certification will be completed within four years.

In February of this year, the Health Bureau invited postpartum care institutions, medical institutions, and confinement meal manufacturers in Beishi to give a briefing on confinement meal suppliers, and incorporated confinement meals into the grading assessment and certification of catering hygiene management, allowing the industry to sign up for certification.

In the first half of this year, the Health Bureau will conduct food safety assessments for the industry and provide guidance and assessment. It is expected that the results of the assessment of confinement meals will be published on the Taipei City Food, Drug and Cosmetics Network Map iMAP website in October this year.

In the second half of the year, the Health Bureau will promote grading assessment and certification of catering hygiene management for business districts. It is hoped that the evaluation of all business districts in Beishi will be completed within 4 years. The New Beitou commercial district will be launched first; in the next two years, other commercial districts in Taipei will be added one after another.

According to the Health Bureau, the 2025 Senior Sports Games will be held in Taipei City. Qualified stores can display the Food and Beverage Hygiene Logo of the Senior Sports Games at the entrance to facilitate the identification of foreign athletes.

Since 2005, the Health Bureau has promoted the grading assessment and certification of catering hygiene management. It has included 14 major industries such as school lunches, cooked food areas, tourist hotels, and department store food streets. It will focus on personnel hygiene management, process quality management, and raw material management. The food safety of the industry is evaluated in five major projects, including cleaning of equipment and appliances, and management of building facilities, and experts and scholars are assigned to form a group to provide on-the-spot guidance and evaluation at the catering establishments of the industry, and give "excellent" and "good" certification to the industry.

At present, 3,404 businesses in Taipei City have passed the assessment, and as many as 90% of them have obtained excellent or good certification. The Health Bureau will re-evaluate certified businesses every two years.
