At least 16 people have died and 16 others have been injured after a huge landslide buried dozens of houses in a village in the Andes in central Ecuador, BTA reported.
Ecuador's risk management secretariat said seven people were still missing, hours after the landslide in Alausí, about 220 kilometers south of the capital Quito.
The disaster also destroyed part of the Pan-American Highway.

The governor of Chimborazo, Ivan Vinuesa, told the AP that some of the injured were taken to hospitals in the area.
He added that people had been ordered to evacuate because there was an imminent risk of more landslides.
