The Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Belarus stated that the US decision to expand sanctions was not unexpected for the Belarusian authorities.

"As real life shows, any attempts to economically isolate and suffocate our country are doomed to failure from the beginning," the Belarusian Foreign Ministry commented.

The Ministry of Foreign Affairs is convinced that the USA is imposing sanctions against the Belarusian people, not the representatives of the government.

"The introduction of sanctions against successful civilian enterprises of Belarus is a concentrated expression of the hypocrisy of the US administration, whose representatives like to declare "support" of the Belarusian people at every opportunity.

I don't think that thousands of ordinary workers of our flagship plants dreamed of such foreign aid and support in the form of absolutely illegal and groundless sanctions," the comment notes.

The Ministry of Foreign Affairs emphasized that "the teams of MAZ and BelAZ, which already have considerable experience of working under sanctions pressure, will successfully overcome any new challenges."

"The Republic of Belarus was, is and will be a sovereign state pursuing an independent foreign policy.

And no sanctions, restrictions and threats will force us to deviate from the defined path and act contrary to our national interests," the Belarusian MFA commented.
