[Reporter Zhong Lihua/Taipei Report] Recently, the issue of the transformation of the Chiang Kai-shek Memorial Hall has received renewed attention. It is understood that the Executive Yuan’s report on promoting transformational justice was held on the 30th, and will approve the establishment of a task force on the transformation of the Chiang Kai-shek Memorial Hall. Officials from the Political Yuan emphasized that the Chiang Kai-shek Memorial Hall Transformation is not only a matter of the department, it is also an attitude of the government to pull it to the level of the hospital.

With regard to the transformation of the Chiang Kai-shek Memorial Hall, Premier Chen Chien-jen stated in the Legislative Yuan a few days ago that everyone has a consensus to de-individualize and de-authoritarianize it, and turn it into a national memorial venue to showcase Taiwan's freedom, democracy, economic and social development, etc. Relevant topics are evaluated and discussed by the task force.

Minister of Culture Shi Zhe also said frankly that the transformation of the Chiang Kai-shek Memorial Hall has not made much progress in terms of tangible completion, but at least on the "intangible consensus", including depersonalization and name change, everyone has a consensus.

Relevant officials revealed that the Ministry of Culture has not yet reported to the Executive Yuan the plan for the transformation of the Chiang Kai-shek Memorial Hall, and so far it has only been discussed verbally and there is no written plan.

However, if the "name change" of the Chiang Kai-shek Memorial Hall requires a law amendment, whether to amend the "Organization Law of the National Chiang Kai-shek Memorial Hall Management Office" before the presidential election in January next year is highly political and has yet to be determined.

Officials from the Political Yuan explained that the non-government committee members of the Transitional Justice Report have proposed to set up the Chiang Kai-shek Memorial Hall Transformation Task Force under the report. Form a task force.

In the future, the transformation plan proposed by the Ministry of Culture will be discussed in the task force, and the transformation proposals for the Chiang Kai-shek Memorial in last year’s task summary report on promoting the transfer will also be discussed together.

As for the withdrawal of the armed forces honor guard from the Chiang Kai-shek Memorial Hall, it is understood that the Ministry of Culture and the Ministry of National Defense have been coordinating for a period of time, but no consensus has been reached. The main crux is that the Ministry of National Defense believes that the armed forces honor guard is for the purpose of "defending the head of state", not for the purpose of "Performance" and "sightseeing", if moved to the outdoor flag-raising platform, it will become "pure performance". In addition to the Chiang Kai-shek Memorial Hall, the Sun Yat-Sen Memorial Hall, the Mausoleum of the Two Jiangs in Daxi, and the Martyr's Shrine also have the three-service honor guard. The Ministry of National Defense thinks whether to withdraw should be discussed together.
