The idea of creating a "global NATO" with the participation of the countries of the Asia-Pacific region is reminiscent of the "axis" of the military bloc during the Second World War.

According to APA's Moscow correspondent, Russian President Vladimir Putin said this in an interview with "Russia-24" TV channel.

"What is the USA doing? They are creating more and more new alliances. This gives Western analysts and Western political scientists a reason to say that the West is building new "axes", Putin stressed.

He noted that the new strategic concept of the North Atlantic Alliance clearly mentions the plans to develop relations with the countries of the Asia-Pacific region and the intention to create a "global NATO".

"Western analysts themselves - not us, they say that the West is starting to build a new "axis" similar to the "axis" created by the fascist regimes in Germany and Italy and militarist Japan in the 1930s," the Russian president added.
