is trying to intimidate Ukraine's allies by deploying nuclear weapons on the territory of Belarus.

This was stated by the Minister of Defense of Lithuania, Arvidas Anusauskas.

He said that Russia is trying to mobilize Western politicians who call for an end to support for Ukraine.

"Russia is taking new steps in an attempt to displease some politicians in the West by supporting Ukraine or to intimidate countries that support Ukraine. This includes Putin's statement about placing nuclear weapons in Belarus by July this year," he said.

In addition, the minister advised not to pay attention to such actions of the Kremlin.

"We should not be distracted by cries of 'what now?'. The protection of NATO countries against the threat of nuclear weapons is guaranteed, regardless of whether these weapons are placed west of our borders (Kaliningrad), to the east (Belarus) or to the north (Leningrad)" , - said Anushauskas.

He added that the U.S. also reacted cautiously to such actions of the Russian dictator, saying that "they are not going to change any of their plans for nuclear deterrence."
