In Hungary, they say that Budapest's call to cease fire in Ukraine and start peace talks does not mean that Russia will withdraw all the Ukrainian territories it currently controls.

This was stated by the head of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Hungary, Peter Szijarto, in an interview with the

AP agency,

"European Pravda" reports.

According to him, the position of Hungary does not indicate that Russia is occupying the territories of Ukraine.

"You know, stopping the war and sitting down at the negotiating table does not mean that you accept the status quo," said the head of the Hungarian Foreign Ministry.

He added that supplying weapons to Ukraine and sanctions were not the measures that helped bring peace to Ukraine.

"When the war ends and peace talks begin, it is not at all necessary that the borders will be where the front line passes. We know this from our own history... The ceasefire must come now," Sijarto explained.

Earlier, Hungary appropriated

Transcarpathia

and has territorial claims to six states at once.
