The weapons given to Ukraine by the West pose a threat to Russia.

According to APA's Moscow correspondent, Russian President Vladimir Putin said this in an interview with "Rossiya1" channel.

According to him, the amount of weapons given to Ukraine by the West is very large.

The Russian president noted that providing ammunition to Ukraine is simply an attempt to prolong the conflict.

"Ukraine uses about 5,000 shells per day. However, only 14,000-15,000 shells are produced in the US every month.

In turn, Russia's defense industry is developing very rapidly.

Our defense industry will produce three times more ammunition than is sent to Ukraine.

The West plans to send 420 or 440 tanks to Ukraine, as well as ammunition.

During this period, we will produce new ones and modernize more than 1600 existing tanks.

The total number of tanks of the Russian army will be three times more than the number of tanks of the Armed Forces of Ukraine," said the Russian president.

However, Putin said that his country does not allow excessive militarization of the economy: "We are not reducing our plans in the fields of civil construction, healthcare, education, and infrastructure development. They (the West - ed.) will have to reduce."
