WATER MINISTER Jumaa Aweso has participated in a discussion on Leadership and Management of Water Issues in a meeting organized by the United Nations in New York, USA.
The debate which was organized by various countries including Tanzania and South Africa as well as various organizations including GWP, UNICEF and UNDP, was attended by the official guest who is retired President Jakaya Kikwete, who is also the Chairman of GWPSA and co-Chairman of the Panel of Famous Leaders on Investment in the water sector.
In his contribution, Aweso noted the strong leadership of Dr.
Samia Suluhu Hassan, President of the United Republic of Tanzania in the agenda of increasing political will and pressure to increase the water budget;
and strengthen institutions related to the management of water services and the implementation of Water Projects.
To implement this, Tanzania is implementing the third phase of the Water Sector Development Program worth 6.47 billion US Dollars and in May 2023 will launch the Water Sector Investment Program (Tanzania Water Investment Program 2023-2030).
Through the discussion, Tanzania has added various stakeholders to collaborate with in the Water Sector.
