"On behalf of the Council of the Belarusian People's Republic, I want to congratulate you on the Day of Freedom, on the occasion of that glorious March 25, when our people announced after more than a century of slavery that they had "thrown off the last yoke of state dependence," the address says.

Ivonka Survila recalled the restoration of independence in the early 1990s: "After the Bolsheviks took our state away from us again, we fought for 70 years to restore it.

And we restored it!!!

On August 25, 1991, the independence of the Republic of Belarus was declared."

"Unfortunately, the former president Alexander Lukashenko once again dragged our region into slavery.

He sold it to keep his power.

And our poor people need to fight for freedom again, - continues the Chairman of the Council of the BNR - But just as we managed to protect our land for a thousand years from attacks by our eastern enemy, we will be able to do it this time as well.

We have a long experience of fighting for freedom.

The time has come when this experience will save us again."

In her address, Ivonka Survila calls on Belarusians to unite:

"Let's come out in close ranks, the way our Ukrainian brothers came out today.

And let's show the world - as they showed in 2020 on the streets of our cities - that we are a brave and free-willed people, and that we have no less right than our neighbors to live in our free and independent state.

Claims to it by our eastern neighbor are an attempt to rob us as he has robbed us so many times in our history.

However, we have survived ten centuries - we will survive even now.

So I congratulate all of us on Freedom Day!

Let's celebrate together, all over the world, this greatest national holiday of ours!

Let's celebrate it with faith in our victory!

Long live Belarus!"

- concludes his speech, Chairman of the Council of the BNR, Ivonka Survila.
