UEFA responded to the call of the members of the European Parliament to exclude teams from Belarus from all tournaments under the auspices of UEFA.

UEFA President Aleksandar Chaferin, in his reply to the parliamentarians, said that the issue will be considered at the next meeting of the UEFA Executive Committee on April 4 in Lisbon.

"UEFA has been going to discuss the situation in Belarus for a long time," Chaferin replied on March 24 to a letter signed by more than 100 MEPs calling for the exclusion of Belarus due to its complicity in Russian aggression against Ukraine.

  • The letter of the deputies of the European Parliament was sent to the head of UEFA on March 15.

It was initiated by Polish parliamentarians with the support of the player of the Polish national team in 1999-2006, Tomáš Frankowski.

  • On the eve of the Euro-2024 qualifying match between Switzerland and Belarus, which will be held on March 25, the human rights organization Libereco handed UEFA more than 17,500 signatures on a petition to exclude Belarus from the Euro-2024 qualifying matches.

  • As Libereco points out, 30 members of the National Council of Switzerland, as well as 46 members of the Bundestag, representatives of the German party "Union 90/Greens" sent the same calls to UEFA over the last month.

  • The Belarusian Sports Solidarity Fund has repeatedly called for Belarus to be excluded from UEFA-sponsored tournaments.
