The number of those detained during the protests against the pension reform in France has increased to 457. This was announced today on the air of CNews TV by the French Minister of the Interior, Gérald Darmanen, quoted on the website of the media.

So far, 441 policemen and gendarmes have been injured, he added, thanking the law enforcement officers and firefighters for their work during the demonstrations.

Demonstrations were numerous and in places turned into clashes, particularly in Paris, very late that night, he pointed out.

According to the minister, 903 objects installed in public space, including garbage containers, were set on fire in Paris alone.

Yesterday was the ninth day of protests against the pension reform in French cities, BTA reminds.

In the capital, hooligans pelted the police with bottles, stones and bombs, and they responded more than once with tear gas.

According to law enforcement officials, there were 1,500 hooligans among the demonstrators, many of whom had specially arrived that day from the Paris suburbs. 

In response to protests by air traffic controllers, French civil aviation demanded airlines cancel 33 percent of their flights to and from Paris-Orly airport on Sunday and 20 percent on Monday.

Restrictions of 20 percent have also been requested for Lyon and Marseille airports.
