Greek Minister of Energy Kostas Skrekas announced the amount of government subsidies for electricity that will be included in consumer bills for April, local TV "Sky" reported, quoted by BTA.

Against the backdrop of lower prices on the wholesale market, electricity subsidies in household tariffs for monthly consumption of up to 500 kilowatt hours will be 15 euros per megawatt hour.

The same amount of subsidy will be for those with a consumption of more than 500 kilowatt hours, provided that they reduce their average daily energy consumption by 15 percent compared to last year's consumption.

A subsidy in the amount of 54 euros per megawatt hour will be granted to households included in the social tariff, and for farmers it amounts to 15 euros per megawatt hour.

The value of the state subsidy is 24.4 million euros.

Electricity prices have come down significantly due to the drop in international gas prices.

Many of the suppliers announced prices for April close to the levels before the energy crisis, Skrekas reported.

The minister emphasized that the only solution to permanently reduce energy prices is the green transition and announced two new subsidized programs - "Save 2023" for energy equipment for homes and "Save-Restore" for young people, related to the government's housing policy.

Last week, the programs to replace electric with solar water heaters (100 million euros) and for photovoltaic panels on the roof (200 million euros) were announced.

Funding applies to all homes, primary or otherwise, and is not income-tested.
