The head of the European Commission, Ursula von der Leyen, plans to organize a conference on children deported from Ukraine together with Poland.

According to APA, this was stated in the report on the results of the first day of the European Union summit held in Brussels.

Lyayen said he would work with Polish Prime Minister Mateusz Morawiecki to mobilize international support for their return.

"To date, we are aware of 16,200 children who have been deported, of whom only 300 have returned, and these criminal acts fully justify the arrest warrant issued by the International Criminal Court. We are at the beginning of a very intensive work, to take all possible measures to determine the whereabouts of these children "We are trying to combine international pressure. We are trying to help the UN and relevant international organizations to get better and more complete information about the children deported to Russia," said von der Leyen.

The diplomat added that this includes children who were "subsequently adopted or given to Russian foster families."
