A specialized police operation to counter crime, protect public order, ensure police presence in vulnerable areas is being carried out in Stara Zagora region today, confirmed the Regional Directorate of the Ministry of Internal Affairs.

Commercial establishments are currently being checked and cars are being stopped at random. 

The director of the ODMVR - Stara Zagora, senior commissioner Lazar Hristov, told journalists yesterday that specific measures are planned to ensure the safety of the population and the protection of public order in the populated areas of the region.

"There are a lot of operations and implementations on our side at the local and national level to prevent such incidents," he said.

Hristov also participated in a meeting with mayors of settlements in Kazanlashko, where the specific measures that will be taken to prevent future similar incidents were discussed.

A specialized police operation to counter domestic crime in small settlements and public order offenses was also carried out on March 21 in the villages of Tuzha and Manolovo, in which 13 persons were detained.

In the Kazanlak region, there is an increased police presence, the reason for which was the mass fight in the parking lot of the Cooperative Market in the city on March 20, in which one person died, and the lives of five people are in danger, BTA recalls.
