"Viasna" human rights activists received information that on March 24, the assistant chairman of the Board of the Eurasian Economic Commission, Dmytro Shadko, was released.

The circumstances of the human rights defender's release are unknown.

Dmitriy Shadko was detained by FSB officers in Moscow on March 9.

According to human rights activists, he was transferred to Minsk almost immediately.

This week there was information that he is accused under Art.

289 of the Criminal Code — "Act of terrorism."

Shadko is allegedly familiar with the Belarusians who were detained in the case of sabotage at the airfield in Machulyshche.

Also, two more people were released, who were detained allegedly because of their involvement in the sabotage in Machulyshche - Ilya Kabanov and Ruslan Maslyankov.

They were detained on March 4, according to human rights activists.

Who is Dmitry Shadko

Dmitri Shadko was born in 1979 in Minsk.

He graduated from BDUIR and the Academy of Management under the President.

Worked in the Central Committee of the Belarusian Patriotic Union of Youth, assistant to the general director, leading specialist of TKD Unispectr CJSC, executive secretary, deputy editor-in-chief and editor-in-chief of the magazine "Planeta".

In 2011, Shadko became the Deputy Minister of Information, and a few years later - the First Deputy Minister of Communications and Informatization.

He held this position until May 2019, then resigned.

Most recently, Shadko held the position of assistant to Mikhail Myasnikovich, chairman of the Board of the Eurasian Economic Commission (a body of the Eurasian Economic Union, which includes Armenia, Belarus, Kyrgyzstan, Russia, Kazakhstan).

Shadko was associated with the "Raleviks" for a long time and from time to time participated in their events - he allegedly personally knew some people who were detained in connection with sabotage in Machulyshche.
