[Instant News/Comprehensive Report] Slovak Defense Minister Jaroslav Nad said on Wednesday that the United States has provided 12 military helicopters as compensation for European countries to provide Ukrainian MiG-29 fighter jets.

According to foreign reports, the cost of 12 new AH-1Z "Vipers" and 500 AGM-114 "Hellfire" missiles plus training is about US$1 billion (about NT$30 billion), but the US offer is 340 million US dollars (approximately NT$10.3 billion), the remaining US$660 million will be borne by US foreign military financing, and the EU will also provide additional compensation of 200 million euros (approximately NT$6.6 billion) to Slovakia.

Nader also said that the Slovakian army does not have armed helicopters, so the deal can greatly improve the country's defense capabilities.

Although Slovakia signed an agreement with the United States to purchase F-16 Block 70/72 fighter jets, due to the postponement of delivery until 2024 and the lack of technology and equipment, Slovakia grounded MiGs in the summer. The defense is currently being jointly assisted by neighboring Poland and the Czech Republic.
