The fifth perceptible earthquake of the year shook this eastern province today, with a magnitude of 3.9 on the Richter scale and 37.5 kilometers southwest of this city, according to reports from the National Seismological Service (SSNC).

Located at the coordinates 19.784 degrees north latitude and 76.040 degrees west longitude, at a depth of 11.7 kilometers,

the earthquake was felt in the towns of the Santiago de Cuba and San Luis, Tercer Frente, Julio A. Mella and Palma Soriano.

Without indications of human or material damage, the tremor occurred at 12:49 local time, and is the second this week, after the one registered this Wednesday, with a magnitude of 4.0 and epicenter in Pilón, province of Granma.
