Regarding the national elections on Sunday, March 26, the date on which Cubans will elect their deputies to the National Assembly of People's Power (Parliament), and those who are elected will be in charge of electing the President and Vice President of the Republic and continue with the legislative development of the Constitution;

Nelson Simón, writer and president of Uneac in Pinar del Río said:

“On Sunday I will go to vote because I believe that a country is built by being next to the country.

With all hands.

With all hearts.

With all the reasons.

I have worked hard to make a better country.

I have turned each of my days into a stage of struggle for that country that I dream of and Sunday will be a day of continuity and reaffirmation.

"I invite all Cubans to support that desire for independence and homeland that began in La Demajagua on October 10, 1868 and that today has its most current expression in a plural candidacy, made up of worthy men and women who will have the sacred duty to represent ourselves and build and perfect that dream, island, country that we are”.

Yusley Izquierdo, president of the Hermanos Saíz Association in Pinar del Río stated:

“I believe that going to the polls this March 26 constitutes a civic act, the exercise of a citizen's right that is established in the Constitution, the one that we already approved in 2019 through a referendum;

I also consider that it constitutes a civic duty.

“We have the right to vote, it is thus recognized for Cubans, but I also believe that we have the duty to accompany this process, to be part, to be part of this exercise of participation in our electoral system.

I think that once we are in the schools, at the polls, we must act with all the seriousness that a process like this implies.

“We have been able to find out about the candidates, which has been made known by the different media and the biographies are visible in each of the spaces and areas of residence, and in some way, we have all become familiar with those to whom that perhaps we did not know so closely and today we already know its merits and virtues.

“With the united vote we would contribute to the National Assembly in this new legislature having a better balance;

Some statistics have already been seen in this sense and it seems to me that it would be an excellent opportunity if it could be made up of such courageous people as is the case of the candidacy presented by Pinar del Río.

“So my recommendation is that this March 26 we all go to the polls, that we do it with full awareness;

that we understand that

we are part of a participatory process;

that we understand that our vote is important and that we think about Cuba, about that Cuba that we need to build together

.”
