European states that are members of the International Criminal Court (ICC) must fulfill their obligations and arrest Russian President Vladimir Putin and hand him over to the court if he enters their country, US Secretary of State Anthony Blinken said

.

Blinken said this while answering questions from Republican Senator

Lindsey Graham

at a hearing in the Senate Appropriations Subcommittee.

Graham asked Blinken to comment on the recent MIA warrant for Putin's arrest and asked him whether the United States should detain Putin if he ever finds himself on American soil.

"I can't rush ahead, because I have to look at the laws.

As you know, we are not a member of the Ministry of Internal Affairs, so I would not like to think in a hypothetical way," answered Blinken.

"Will you call on our European allies to bring him to justice," Graham asked.

"I think that every country that is a party to the court and has relevant obligations should fulfill its obligations," Blinken replied.
