The Bulgarian Food Safety Agency is expected to announce the results of the samples taken from the eggs imported from Ukraine and Latvia.

It is about 2 million and 600 thousand eggs for direct consumption, imported in the period 9 - 19 March.

They were reported by the Union of Poultry Breeders, who expressed doubts - why they were not put on the market and announced that they had requested an inspection from the Food Agency.

From there, they specified that the eggs are examined for radioactivity, heavy metals and residues of veterinary medicinal preparations.

The agency explained that the samples are taken to ensure their safety for Bulgarian consumers.

All eggs carry on their shell the corresponding code proving their origin.
