At the same time, we see what is happening in Avdiivka.

For example, some say that the Russians want to turn Avdiivka into a second Bakhmut.

In an interview

with TSN.ua,

the director of the New Geopolitics Research Network, Mykhailo Samus, told what the situation is in this direction and whether it is possible to say that things are getting bad for them.

"Actually, they have been sick for a long time.

On February 24, the Russians began this adventure, which immediately turned into a disaster, first military, and now geopolitical.

What we see on the battlefield, these hysterical attacks by the Russians, is explained by the fact that they really need at least some success.

Yes, they wanted to demonstrate that they captured the entire Donbas, i.e. Donetsk and Luhansk regions, then try to record these losses and announce that the tasks of the "special military operation" have been completed and they are ready for negotiations," said Mykhailo Samus.

According to him, the dynamics for six months indicate that the Russians are advancing very slowly.

"I think that these efforts to shift the emphasis, including from Bakhmut to Avdiivka, are already underway because they understand that it will definitely not be possible to achieve, for example, a result in the form of a full occupation of Donetsk region by April 1.

If you continue to hunt for Bakhmut, then nothing will work either.

Perhaps their idea now is to surround Avdiyivka and present it as a success and start from these positions to talk through China with the West and Ukraine, that perhaps it is possible to "freeze" this conflict, because Russia will be satisfied if one of the directions , for example, Maryanka-Avdiyivka, to pull Ukrainian troops away from Donetsk, actually from the demarcation line, so that Ukrainian artillery, as they say, could not reach Donetsk," Samus emphasized.

We will remind that Zelenskyi visited Ukrainian defenders in the Bakhmut direction.
