The state is working to terminate the lease agreements between the UOC MP and churches in Chernihiv and Pochaev.

Culture Minister Oleksandr Tkachenko told about this in an interview with "RBK Ukraine".

"We have expired agreements for the use of property in Chernihiv and one of the temples in Pochaev. We are currently working on this precisely with regard to the termination of such agreements and the signing of the relevant acts of acceptance and transfer," said the head of the Ministry of Culture.

Tkachenko did not specify which churches he meant, but most likely it is about the Dormition Cathedral of the Pochaiv Lavra (end of the 18th century), and historical monuments in Chernihiv: Troitskyi and Yeletskyi monasteries (XI century – one of the oldest monasteries in Ukraine) and Transfiguration Cathedral (11th century – one of the oldest preserved monumental stone buildings in Ukraine).

As for the Kyiv-Pechersk Lavra, the Ministry of Culture is considering the question of whether service and religious life should continue there.

"Currently, we are not talking about long-term leases, but here we are also discussing possible changes to the law with the deputies," Tkachenko added.

Earlier, Oleksandr Tkachenko said that due to the actions of the vicar of the UOC MP monastery in the Pochaiv Lavra, criminal proceedings will be opened regarding the obstruction of the use of state property.

It was also reported that the court punished the rector of the Pochaiv Theological Seminary of the UOC MP for a pro-Russian post.
