Andy Pereira and Daniela Fonseca confirmed their good moment and won the respective titles in the singles tournaments at the Caribbean Table Tennis Championships, an event in which Cuba has already accumulated four golds and secured first place by country.

In the event organized by the Guyanese city of Georgetown, Andy imposed his level and only lost one set in his four title challenges.

After being

in the first round, he beat Dominican Glenn Carrasco (4-0), Barbadian Tyrese Knight (4-1) and Puerto Ricans Oscar Birriel (4-0) and Daniel González (4-0) in a straight line.

For her part, among the women, Daniela Fonseca did not find much resistance either and dominated her four games with only two sets against.

In fact, she swept the Dominican Shary Muñoz in the final.

The Olympic representative of Cuba opened with success from 4-0 against the Trinidadian Chloe Fraser, to later continue with the same score against the Dominican Yasiris Ortiz.

In the semifinals, Daniela defeated Puerto Rican Brianna Burgos 4-2, while in the other duel of that instance, Muñoz from Dominican Republic gave the biggest surprise of the day by defeating Puerto Rican World Cup player Melanie Díaz, top favorite for gold.

In addition to Andy and Daniela, five other representatives competed for the Greater Antilles, but both the medal favorites Jorge Moisés Campos and Idalys Lovet, as well as Liván Martínez Adrián Pérez, lost in the quarterfinals.

After this performance, Cuba accumulates four titles and already ensures domination of the tournament.

However, the main course starts this Thursday with the group stage of the team tournaments, an event that will distribute Pan-American tickets.
