Until now, in the archives of the Romanian secret service Securirate, there is no evidence that a painting by Jackson Pollock was part of the collection of Nicolae Ceaușescu.

This was stated for BNT by the art critic and expert on state art collections Adrian Buga.

The Romanian police have already contacted him for more information on the case.

Hundreds of stolen paintings, from museums and private collections - this is the art collection of Romanian dictator Nicolae Ceausescu.

Adrian Buga has been researching these works of art for years.

And so far he hasn't found a single trace there that is connected to the expressionist Jackson Pollock.

"Ceausescu's collection consists exclusively of Romanian paintings. Communist art that extols the Romanian spirit. Ceausescu lacks taste for American art, especially abstract impressionism, such as Pollock's style," said Adrian Buga.

Each painting in this collection is stamped and numbered on its back and label.

It became clear whose collection the painting by Jackson Pollock discovered in our country was from

"A big label, a big piece of paper that has information about the painting. Who does it belong to, which museum did it come from. In the collection, paintings have an inventory number written in black or red ink. To be sure if it's authentic, I have to saw how this label was stuck on the back of the painting, what the glue was, the pigments," said Adrian Buga.

To be imported or exported from Romania, a painting must have the personal permission of the dictator - a piece of paper with a signature.

"They register with the Securitate, they have lists of everything there. If the painting came from America, there is a good chance that some trace will be found in the archives. but keep in mind that in the black market for works of art anyone can claim anything, but they must to prove himself. I have not found any foreign paintings in his house, by Pollock or any other expressionist. He may have received gifts, but there is no sign of such paintings," said Adrian Buga.

Romanian authorities have already sought assistance from Buga.

The Securitate archives are about to be dug up again.
