The process of de-Russification continues in Kyiv.

At today's meeting, the Kyiv City Council renamed 16 more streets, alleys, avenues and boulevards, the names of which are related to Russia and the Soviet past.

This was announced by Kyiv Mayor Vitaliy Klitschko on Facebook.

In particular, the following names were given:

Shevchenkiv district:

  • Leo Tolstoy Street - Hetman Pavlo Skoropadskyi Street;

  • Leo Tolstoy Square - Ukrainian Heroes Square;

  • Khokhlovy Family Street - Gareth Jones Street.

Podilsky district:

  • Tagilska Street - Oksana Meshko Street.

Dnipro district:

  • Yuri Gagarin Avenue - Leonid Kadenyuk Avenue;

  • Vizvoliteliv Avenue – Georgiy Narbut Avenue;

  • Perova Boulevard - Voskresensky Avenue.

Holosiivskyi district:

  • Moskvina Street and Moskvina Lane - Ivan Firtsak Street and Ivan Firtsak Lane, respectively;

  • Stolyetova Street - Ulas Samchuk Street;

  • Pyatigorska Street – Alpiyska Street;

  • Marshalska Street - Halyna Sevruk Street.

Desnyan district:

  • Cosmonaut Volkova Street – Cosmonaut Popovych Street;

  • Maryna Tsvetaeva Street - Oleksandra Ekster Street.

Pechersk district:

  • Dobrolyubova Street - Volodymyr Korotkevich Street.

Solomyansky district:

  • Suzdalska Street - Oleksa Hirnyka Street.

We would like to remind you that the new date of the foundation of Kyiv Oblast has been determined - it is 

the middle of the 8th century, namely 842.
