[Central News Agency] The British Parliament followed up the government's approach today and issued a ban on the Chinese short video and video application (App) TikTok, so that MPs can no longer connect to TikTok through the Parliamentary network.

Meanwhile, TikTok CEO Zhou Shouzi is being grilled unkindly by lawmakers in the U.S. Congress over allegations of ties to the Communist government in Beijing.

Agence France-Presse reported that the House of Commons of the British Parliament stated that TikTok "will be blocked by all parliamentary devices and the parliamentary network", adding that "cyber security is the number one priority of parliament".

Individual congressmen who are keen to use TikTok will still be able to use the app on their private mobile phones, but they will not be able to use it when connected to the Wifi network of Congress itself.

The British government announced last week that it would ban the use of TikTok on business jets due to security concerns, in line with the European Union (EU) and the United States.

Energy Security and Net Zero Minister Grant Shapps, who has more than 14,000 followers on TikTok, said his business jet would comply with the ban but would still use TikTok on his personal phone.
