A large oil spill has formed in the Batman River, located in the district of the same name in southeastern Turkey, TRT-Haber state television reported.

The spill occurred late last night when oil leaked from an oil pipeline of the state energy company BOTASH.

The oil spill occurred over the Batman River.

The leak has been stopped, informs TRT-Haber.

BOTAS employees, Batman Municipality teams, as well as AFAD (Directorate for Disaster and Emergency Management) teams have been sent to the contaminated area to try to clean up the oil spill, according to the TV channel, BTA.
